| CAPP Terms | |
| Adjusted GPA: | Grade point average based on the most recent passing grades used to replace all previous grades in one or more courses, thus creating an adjusted cumulative GPA. |
| Alert Box: | An alert box is a window that notifies you of a condition that may impact data. You must acknowledge an alert box before you can do anything else in the form. |
| Area: | An area represents each major component of a degree program, such as core requirements or electives. |
| Attribute: | An attribute identifies specific characteristics of courses and students that can be used in degree evaluation. |
| Auto Hint and Status Line: | This text feature is located at the bottom of each window in a form. It briefly describes the field where the cursor is located. It may include the purpose of the field or what you can do next. Note that error and processing messages appear here. The Status Line is directly under Auto Hint. |
| Block: | An information area on a form separated by a solid line. Blocks are portions of the Form or window that contains information related to the information entered into the Key Block. It's the main body of the screen. Information can be viewed, updated or maintained. There could be multiple Forms/Blocks connected. |
| CAPP: | Acronym for the Curriculum, Advising and Program Planning software. CAPP tracks a student's progress towards a degree, certificate or award. (Degree Audit) |
| Catalog Term: | This term reflects the year of the catalog in which a student bases the requirements of their degree on. |
| Compliance Process: | The process by which you check a student’s progress toward a degree, certificate or award. When you run the compliance process, CAPP checks course work against degree requirements and generates a report. The report details whether or not the student has completed the requirements of the programs and why. |
| Curriculum: | The programs offered at TTU. These include such basics as level, degree, major, and concentration. |
| Degree Evaluation: | The process of running an evaluation online via WebCAPP. Checks coursework against degree requirements and generates a report. |
| Dialog Box: | A dialog box is a window that appears when Banner requires you to choose from two or more options. You must acknowledge a dialog box before you can do anything else in the form. |
| Entry Term: | Fall quarter of the catalog year the requirements will be evaluated against. |
| Evaluation Term: | The term for which the degree evaluation was generated. |
| Form: | Banner displays information and allows you to work with it using the “forms” concept. Similar to a screen in TechSIS. |
| Field: | Area in a form where you can enter, query, change and display specific information. |
| In Progress: | Courses a student has enrolled in that have not yet been graded and entered into academic history. Includes current and future term enrollment. Will be shown as an asterisk in the general report of "R" in the detailed report. |
| Key Block: | Normally the first block on most forms. Some forms will not have a Key Block (Validation Tables). The Key Block is tied to a Person, Term, ID, Course, etc. |
| Met: | Indicates requirements for a program or area have been satisfied. |
| Not Met: | Indicates requirements for a program or area have not been satisfied. |
| Next & Previous Block: | Moves you to the various “blocks” of a form within the same record. Use Rollback to see another record (to return to the field to enter a new ID). |
| Program: | The goal that the student is aiming for: a degree, certificate or award. |
| Program GPA: | Current grade point average for all courses in the program degree evaluation. |
| Qualifiers: | A feature within areas that allow requirements to be checked based on student characteristics. |
| Rejected: | Courses that could not be used in the degree evaluation. (non-applicable) A listing of rejected courses can be viewed in the Additional Information report. |
| Requirements: | The detailed specifics of what the program or area require. Requirements can be things such as the specific grades allowed, maximum number of courses, and minimum GPA's. The core requirements, major, and other university requirements are broken down into specific pieces known as area requirements. Each area requirement is independent and must be satisfactorily completed. The requirements are not completely satisfied if any individual area requirement is deficient and is marked “Not Met”. |
| Result as of: | The date the degree evaluation was generated. |
| Rollback: | Clears all information and returns you to the key block area. |
| Rule: | A rule is used to handle complicated requirements such as:
Selecting three courses from a list of ten courses;
Selecting one course from a list of possible courses;
Selecting one course each from three of five lists. |
| Used: | Indicates the number of credits/courses used for the degree evaluation. Includes in progress courses. |
| Unused: | Indicates the number of credits/courses not used for the degree evaluation. |
| WebCAPP: | The online version of CAPP that allows students and advisors to view past compliances, run a new compliance on current student data, or run a "what if" scenario. |
