Questions & Answers
Q.What is CAPP?
A.“Curriculum, Advising and Program Planning (CAPP),” is part of the Sungard SCT Banner Student System. This module helps you track a student’s progress toward a degree, certificate or award. It replaces the OnCourse module in TechSIS. CAPP does not replace advising by the advisors.

A CAPP compliance (audit) many be run on any student for any major or any catalog. The student does not need to be active or currently enrolled. CAPP only requires that there be Academic History (from TTU or transfer) entered into Banner. In Progress courses are included.

A.CAPP processes the courses by chronological term, based on a "best fit" scenario and the way the requirements are defined. It will look through each of the courses, and then assigns each course to the first requirement in the degree program that the course will fulfill.

Q.The system will only allow me to review one major at a time. How can I check the other major?
A.To evaluate a second major or an additional degree, use the "What-If Analysis" link at the bottom of the page after you have completed the first evaluation.
Back

Q.What are the "General Requirements" and the "Additional Information" screens for?
A.These are screens that come with the system. The General Requirements option shows the courses that were used toward your audit, but not what is still needed. The Additional Information option shows any courses that were excluded from your audit. We recommend that you use the Detail Requirements” option. It will provide you with the best and most comprehensive analysis of your progress toward degree completion, but some repeated courses will be found ONLY under the Additional Information option.

Q.The major requires a concentration, it did not appear on the audit. What is wrong?
A.Either the concentration has not been declared yet, or the "what-if analysis" was run without adding a concentration.
Back

Q. Why are some of the courses appearing in the wrong area? What can I do to change this?
A.CAPP does the best it can to fit your courses into appropriate areas. Sometimes there are multiple areas that a course could fit into and it will choose one. Unfortunately, it does not know where you meant the course to fit into your program. If you wish to change the placement of a course you have to inform the Degree Audit Office in writing so that they can make the adjustment (as long as it is within accepted Academic guidelines).

Q.Some requirements have “or” & “and” next to them. What does this mean?
A.A requirement with an "or" next to it means that you can take the requirement it is listed next to or the one listed above it. A requirement with an "and" next to it means that you must take the requirement it is listed next to and the requirement above it.

Q.Why does the CAPP audit not show the last column on the right?
A.You need to print the audit in landscape format. In Internet Explorer click on File|Page Setup and then select "Landscape." Consult the documentation if you use a different browser.
