  Narrative:

Texas Tech University is in compliance with Core Requirement #2.4.

Texas Tech University publishes its mission statement on p. 2 of the printed 2004-2005 Catalog (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/officialpublications/catalog/Catalog.html#Mission).

The current mission statement was developed as part of the University Strategic Planning process initiated by President David Schmidly in Fall 2000. Several draft mission statements were considered by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee and a final draft was circulated to members of the university administration, faculty, staff, and students for comment. The final draft was reviewed by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee and forwarded to the President and Board of Regents for their approval. The University’s mission and vision statements were approved at the Board of Regents meeting on November 2, 2001.

The mission statement published in the print and pdf versions of the 2004-2005 Texas Tech University calendar is not the mission statement that was approved by the board of regents in 2001. The correct mission statement is in the html version of the catalog, in the Board of Regents Rules, and in the university strategic plan. All future versions of the university catalog will carry the correct mission statement.

The approval of the mission statement is noted on page 7 of the minutes from the Board of Regents meeting. http://www.irs.ttu.edu/Reports/StateReports/SYSTEM/Minutes/Default.htm
