Texas Tech University is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.2.14.

Intellectual property policies, including ownership of materials, compensation, copyright issues, and allocation of revenue are covered in O.P. 74.04 (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/opmanual/OP74.04.html). This policy defines different classes of intellectual property, details the terms under which the Texas Tech University System claims copyright and/or a share of  royalty income, and specifies the division of such income among the faculty and/or students responsible for developing it, the university, and other interested parties. Revenues that revert to a college or department may not be used to offset funds from the normal operating budget approved by the board of regents. Otherwise the funds may be spent at the discretion of the unit under the limitations of the law.

This policy does not address how funds earned from royalties on intellectual property that remain with the Texas Tech University System shall be dispersed.
