R. Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith is a
board certified pediatrician who served for four years as
Commissioner of Texas Department of Health before becoming the
President of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
He became Chancellor of the Texas Tech University system in May

President Jon
Whitmore, Ph.D.
Dr. Whitmore has a
Ph.D. in Dramatic Arts from University of California, Santa
Barbara. He served as dean of the College of Fine Arts at the
University of Texas in Austin for six years and as provost at
the University of Iowa for 8 years before he as named president
of Texas Tech University in September 2003. A biographical

William M.
Marcy, Ph.D.
Dr. Marcy has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Texas Tech
University, where he joined the Department of Computer Science
in 1975. Dr. Marcy was dean of the College of Engineering at
Texas Tech University before being named provost in 2001.
