Texas Tech University is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.2.8.

All administrative and academic officers at Texas Tech University are highly qualified by training and experience to serve in the particular capacity to which they are appointed. Administrative and academic officers are selected through an open and competitive process that involves peer administrators, faculty, staff (as appropriate), and student participation. Specific information on senior administrative and academic officers of the university is available as follows:

Chancellor, David R. Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith is a board certified pediatrician who served for four years as Commissioner of Texas Department of Health before becoming the President of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. President Jon Whitmore, Ph.D.
Dr. Whitmore has a Ph.D. in Dramatic Arts from University of California, Santa Barbara. He served as dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas in Austin for six years and as provost at the University of Iowa for 8 years before he as named president of Texas Tech University in September 2003. Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost,
William M. Marcy, Ph.D.

Dr. Marcy has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University, where he joined the Department of Computer Science in 1975.
