Texas Tech University is in compliance with Comprehensive
Standard 3.4.4.
Texas Tech
University’s course credit transfer policies are published on
pp. 22 and 23 of the University Catalog. (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/officialpublications/catalog/ADTRANSFER.html)
The State of Texas has established the Texas Common Course
Numbering System (TCCNS) for all Texas public colleges and
schools. This numbering system establishes equivalency for a
list of courses that satisfy core requirements at most
universities in the state. When transferred from one Texas
public higher education institution to another, courses
designated as common must be treated as if they had actually
been taken on the receiving institution’s campus. Therefore,
Texas Tech University has no discretion with respect to
acceptance of such courses.
With respect to
courses that are not on the TCCNS list, the university maintains
a Transfer Evaluation Office that evaluates courses and
transcripts for transfer. Specific policies and guidelines for
acceptance of transfer credit are also published in the
university catalog. Some study abroad courses are pre-approved
for credit at Texas Tech University. Other courses must be
approved by the Transfer Evaluation Office or by the department
that would accept the credit for the transfer course. Details of
the study abroad transfer policies are available on the Study
Abroad web site at (http://www.iaff.ttu.edu/Home/OIA/StudyAbroad/BBSABCredit.asp).
Texas Tech
University accepts credit for CEEB achievement tests, advanced
placement program examinations, CLEP examinations, the
International Baccalaureate Examination, and credit by
examination administered through TTU departments. The university
does not award credit toward graduation for experiential
learning, nor does it recognize professional certificates as
equivalent to university course work. Texas Tech University does
accept responsibility for any course or credit that is listed on
a student transcript and accepted as fulfilling the requirements
for graduation. |
