Texas Tech University is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.4.9.

Texas Tech University offers a wide variety of student support services. 

University wide services include:

Access TECH (http://www.studentaffairs.ttu.edu/accesstech/)  Provides service, support, and education to all students with disabilities including full access to and participation in the academic environment as well as reasonable accommodations in the classroom.

Advising Center at Texas Tech (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/actt/) The Advising Center at Texas Tech (ACTT) is the university advising center. It serves both prospective and current students and any member of the Texas Tech Community. The ACTT is dedicated to assisting first year students to determine the directions of their lives and their academic majors.         

IT Services for Students (http://www.ttu.edu/it4students/) Provides technical support for students, including  access to computers in the Advanced Technology Learning Center (ATLC), trouble-shooting, training, free software, access to e-mail and internet, and a wide range of other computer technology  related services 

International Affairs

Study Abroad
(http://www.iaff.ttu.edu/Home/OIA/StudyAbroad/BBDefault.asp)  Provides student access to study abroad opportunities, including enrollment in Texas Tech operated programs and identification of and enrollment in exchange programs and other study abroad opportunities. The Study Abroad Office also assists Texas Tech University faculty who wish to establish study-abroad programs for their own academic area.

International Student and Scholar Services                 (http://www.iaff.ttu.edu/Home/OIA/StudentScholarServices/BBDefault.asp)
Facilitates compliance with federal immigration regulations for foreign students and faculty and provides cultural exchange opportunities for foreign students enrolled at Texas Tech University and for citizens of the Lubbock community. 

Mentor Tech - Lauro Cavazos and Ophelia Powell-Malone Mentoring Program (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/officeofculturaldiversity/Mentor.htm). In an attempt to address issues related to the recruitment and retention of multicultural students, the Lauro Cavazos & Ophelia Powell-Malone Mentoring Program (Mentor Tech) was piloted with African American & Hispanic students during the 2002-2003 academic year. The program is modeled after the successful Benjamin E. Mays Program at Boston College. 

Programs for Academic Success Services/Academic Testing Services (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/passcntr/). Functions under this office include:

Academic Testing Services (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/testing/)
Academic Testing Services is an approved/recognized national testing site. It is involved from the beginning of the prospective students' admission requirements, and continues as an integral part of each student's academic progress through graduation; including graduate admissions and professional certification/licensure requirements.

Pass Learning Center (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/passcntr/passcontact.php)
Provides tutoring services, study skills training and other college survival skills for students. Houses the Testing Accommodation facility.  Testing Accommodation (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/passcntr/ta.php). Coordinates and houses testing services for students who qualify under terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

TSI Texas Success Initiative Remediation (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/passcntr/tasp.php). The state-mandated Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Test measures college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics. Beginning in the Fall of 1998, each undergraduate student, unless exempt, who enters a public institution of higher education must take the TSI Test before beginning his or her first enrollment.  Students who fail to achieve a passing grade on the TSI Test are enrolled in remedial courses. Students must pass the TSI Test before they are allowed to enroll for upper-level courses.

XL Strategies for Learning (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/passcntr/xl.php) Offers a non-credit academic skills course (XL0201) that is required for freshmen students who failed to earn a 2.0 grade point average in their first semester or for students retuning from academic suspension. Open to enrollment  for any student.

Office of the Registrar (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/registrar/). Offers transcript reproduction services,  course add/drop,  transfer credit evaluation and veterans services.

Success Center (http://www.successcenter.ttu.edu/)
Residence Hall-based centers that  provide academic support, leadership development opportunities, and career exploration experiences that  enable students to succeed in college.

TECHniques Center (http://www.studentaffairs.ttu.edu/accesstech/)
Provides supplemental academic support services to meet the needs of and to promote the retention of undergraduate students with documented evidence of learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder.           

University Writing Center (http://english.ttu.edu/uwc01/)
The UWC is a university-supported facility that works with many clients, including students, faculty, and staff in all disciplines. They are available to work with clients on writing projects of all types, from course assignments to personal writing tasks.

The academic support services described above are consistent with the mission of a comprehensive public university. They provide essential and sometimes mandated services for designated groups of students as well as offering a variety of services such as testing,  study skills and other supports, grade reporting and transcript services and others to the general student population.
